POLISH striker Patryk Klimala has emerged as a target for
Celtic. SunSport can reveal the highly-rated Poland Under-21 hitman is on
Neil Lennon’s radar.
Klimala, 21, still has 18 months to run on his contract with his club Jagiellonia Bialystok. But it’s understood he has a four million Euros release clause in his deal. The Hoops could face a fight with Europa League opponents Copenhagen, who have also targeted the forward. Klimala has scored seven goals in 17 appearances in the
Polish league this campaign.
Celtic has been linked with Slovan Bratislava hitman Andraz
Sporar. But as yet no offer has been tabled, with the Slovakian side frustrated
by talks stalling.
With £40,000-a-week Scott Sinclair on his
way OUT of Celts to join Preston, Lennon has money available to
strengthen his squad.
Sinclair was in Dubai this week as part of the Hoops’ winter
training camp.
But he has jetted back to the UK to finalise his move back to
Alex Neil’s side having completely fallen out of the picture under Lennon. Meanwhile,
Scott Brown has branded Ryan Christie’s SFA ban ‘laughable’.
The Celtic skipper has been stunned by the decision to hit
Christie with a three-game suspension for grabbing Alfredo Morelos’ groin
during the Old Firm defeat at Parkhead.
Brown said: “I’m astonished by the decision. Ryan is upset
about it.
“To be honest, it’s laughable. Morelos took him on and cut inside
and we’ve all seen that sort of incident. “Ryan just tried to put his hand in
to try to stop him. But it is what it is.”
Celtic called for a “disciplinary process which is fair,
consistent and fit for purpose” in a blistering statement immediately after the
verdict was announced.
Brown added: “I think that’s the biggest thing. It’s like
people can just phone up these days and they end up looking at the cases and
going with what everyone’s saying.
“But it’s the consistency that everyone wants on serious red
cards and serious fouls that some referees and linesmen miss, that’s the ones
you want called up.”
Meanwhile, Brown has vowed the Hoops will bounce back from
their 2-1 loss to Gers.
He said: “It was very disappointing, but now we’ve had time
to look at it back and figure out how we’re going to play in the next games and
figure out what we’re going to do.
“That’s what we’re working on this week, how we’re going to
do that. Now it’s just about looking forward.
“We have 18 games left in the league and we need to make sure
we go on a good run again. We did that last year. That’s our aim this year
too.”
Broony insists he doesn’t want VAR in Scotland after seeing
what has happened in the English Premier League this season.
He said: “It is killing the game. The celebrations, you score
a goal and you slowly walk back as you can’t go and celebrate with the fans.
“You want decisions to be right, but some of the decisions
are millimetres.
“Then you have in the 20 seconds before the goal was there a
free-kick or foul? It is killing the passion of the game.
“As soon as you score the first thing you see people do is
look up to the screens thinking, ‘I hope no one has done anything in the last
20 seconds’.
“It is killing the momentum because once you score you want
to press the game. But instead you have to wait two or three minutes as someone
upstairs makes a decision.”
